Gorgeous Melissa | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Melissa tied the knot in August last year in the Council Chambers in Bethnal Green town hall. Inspired by a photoshoot in the same room which featured one of our dresses, she decided to weave a little flavour of that style into her big day.
After initially coming to us to try our range of bridal separates, Melissa found herself falling in love with something entirely different in our Antonia dress.
"I had never dress shopped anywhere before Halfpenny. I worked at a bridal show years ago and I met a wedding blogger who introduced me to Halfpenny. I knew when the time came it would be my go to place. I’m very decisive and I know what I like.
"Before coming to the appointment I was asked what I would like to try and I thought I would be a really ‘modern bride’ and chose a two piece look. I chose the Thea beaded camisole and a Lizzie circular chiffon skirt. We tried those on and I liked them but the lady suggested the Iris Classic dress over a blush slip with a small sash AND the Antonia dress I tried them on and couldn’t believe how much I liked having a more traditional dress silhouette.
"It was a VERY tough call between the Iris dress and the Antonia. When I brought my sister to see it I knew, and she knew, the traditional and simple front to the Antonia dress and the dramatic back was just right for me. I wanted a very paired down look, I had planned a simple pony tail with a ribbon (purple to match my flowers) with no veil, but right at the end during my last fitting the seamstress suggested and sash and I just loved it. We went with an oyster colour large sash in duchesse satin folded in half."
Congratulations to the newlyweds! We wish you every happiness in your new lives together.
Love,
Kate & The Halfpennys xx
