Lovely Karina | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Karina and her handsome beau, Wayne, said ‘I do’ in September last year in an elegant celebration in a country barn. Karina’s family live in Northwest England, so she decided to start her dress search independently.
“I knew I loved shopping alone anyway so I would do some research fittings myself and any dresses I quite liked, I would go for a second fitting with my mum and sister at a later date – make a day of it. Of course all my friends and family offered their services… but I was determined to have it for myself. Having said all of that, it turned out a close friend was in London on business the very same day that my first visit to Halfpenny was due. She had asked me to go for lunch, so I came clean about the dress fitting. She was thrilled! And, it was lovely to have her there.
Halfpenny was the first shop I visited so I didn’t know what to expect. [Stylist] Hannah was my first Halfpenny experience, and she was amazing. So laidback, chatty, gave me excellent advice whilst not being overbearing. Hannah took some key info and thoughts from me, then offered me different styles to try, and I’m so glad she did. As they really don’t always look like they do on your body as they do on the hanger. So, I soon learnt…. just trust and try it on!
I really liked the Daydreamer and Fly me to the Moon collections. I felt they were structured in alternative ways using different dress lines or fabrics; without being too feminine and ‘bridey’. I felt they encapsulated my personality. I rarely wear a dress, yet I knew I wanted to feel as bride like as I was comfortable with…whilst still being able to show my personality.”
We were on the verge of launching our Daydreamer collection and Karina was luck enough to get a little sneak peek….
“The Oak dress had not been put onto the website yet, so I hadn’t seen it before visiting the shop. I went in with different dresses in mind, and after trying on the dresses I had seen, Hannah started to offer me different dresses which incorporated elements I liked on previous dresses… this brought me to the Oak dress. I tried it, on and came out to show my friend and see the larger mirror. I felt so ‘at home’ in it. I loved the strong less-traditional neck line and in contract to the more feminine skirt. And the pockets! It made me feel more comfortable and less formal, whilst being absolutely the most elegant garment I had ever seen and tried on. And the way it nipped my waist in made me feel just amazing.”
My team are so amazing at unearthing the perfect outfit from our dressing up box of dreams and I’m thrilled Karina came in at just the right time to see the Oak dress. It’s like it was meant to be!
Karina finished off her look with a pair of Green Manolo Blahnik Hangisimu embellished satin mules, emerald green leaf-style earrings, and her stunning emerald and diamond engagement ring.
