Lovely Laura | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Laura Ridley and Andy Willis tied the knot in a beautifully personal celebration this August. The couple had three locations during the day and led their guests through Hackney in a mini procession which looked super fun!
“The wedding was our own personal style. My brief to the florist (Jess from Fluoresse) was for the flowers and tablescape to be more like art and to be total chaos. We went against usual traditions. I wanted it to be different to the usual weddings as we have been to so many.”
Laura’s search for her dream dress brought her to our Bloomsbury boutique and, despite thinking she’d have to have something bespoke, she fell in love with our Mayfair dress.
“My first appointment [at Halfpenny London] was such a lovely experience. I knew I wanted something different and thought I would have to get one made to fall in love with one. This was my first official wedding dress shop. I had shown the stylist pictures of what I would like to be made, I was after something different and a bit wild. She was so helpful and we tried on so many difference things. I loved how you could add bits and take away to play with different styles. We discussed making bespoke crazy sleeves. I also got the honour of meeting Kate, as the stylist said she thinks she would love it as I was after something crazy and a fellow northerner. There was a sample sale the following week so my mam and I thought we would go for fun. We were in shock when we fell in love with the Mayfair dress. I realised I could make this work with my own personal touch through shoes and accessories.
[I knew it was the one because] it just felt so right and the look on my Mam’s face. I could picture it with my personal touches; at the time I was thinking I would team it with big chunky black boots! The sleeves were incredible - when they were up it created such a statement and when they were down more girly. I felt like I was on a catwalk.”
We love how Laura teamed it with a Simone Rocha headpiece, shoes and earrings, and her Shrimps Antonia bag was another fabulous touch.
