Stunning Olivia | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Olivia and her new husband, Alfred, said “I do” in the beautifully rustic Nancarrow Farm in September last year. The couple used Nancarrow Farm as the starting point for planning their day and liked that the farm raises and grows all their food on site, with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Olivia’s dress search brought her to our boutique and she was truly a dream bride!
“I actually hadn’t done any dress shopping before I visited Halfpenny but had been following the brand on social media for some time and knew that your attention to detail and unique designs really suited my style and vision. [My experience at Halfpenny London was] so fun! I don’t really like shopping and was slightly intimidated by the thought of finding the “perfect” dress. However, me and my mum were really put at ease and it felt like having access to the best dressing up box ever. We both felt quite sad when my last appointment was over and miss getting to visit the Halfpenny studio.
I had already spied the Tulip dress on the website and had a feeling it was going to be “the one” – it felt very me, as it had those beautiful, Florence and the Machine-esque sleeves but also details that looped in with the venue (the beautiful wheat/floral embroidery) but also my family home which was an old granary.
[I knew it was the one] mainly because it felt so comfortable and made me feel so good when I tried it on. It felt like something that I would actually want to wear – rather than a wedding dress – a lot of which I had seen online that didn’t really feel very me. It really felt like my style and crucially, even when trying on the sample that didn’t fit perfectly – I just didn’t want to take it off!”
We cannot imagine a more perfect dress for Olivia. She looks so dreamy and we love the way she styled it with a hairband - gifted from her mum - which echoed the floral motifs in the dress.
“The flowers were so important to us – and we didn’t want to confirm our venue until we knew our florist would be free. Becca at The Garden Gate Flower Company is an absolute genius – she grows all of the flowers she uses and the autumnal touches of foliage she used to compliment them were stunning.”
Every detail of Olivia and Alfred’s big day was incredibly beautiful and we loved working with Olivia to make her dress perfect. These images by John Hersey (@johnhersey.studio / @in_lovers_eyes) really captured the magic of the day and we’re so happy to be able to share them.
