Beautiful Marina | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Marina’s wedding was postponed from June until September last year due to the pandemic. Originally, the couple had planned to have a classic marquee wedding at a country house near Marina’s family home, yet pivoted their plans to make the very best of the situation. They had their ceremony at a small, local church followed by a reception at home in the garden.
“It was more perfect than we could have ever imagined, we had a buffet style barbecue and casual seating, fire pits, a much smaller more bohemian marquee and plenty of music. We are now massive advocates for a more intimate wedding.”
Marina’s search for the perfect gown brought her to our Bloomsbury boutique. She eventually chose our Cheryl dress in silk with the silk organza Mayfair overskirt and looked utterly incredible!
“I vaguely knew the shape/style I wanted, but the stylist was so helpful and guided me towards my perfect dress. She also got me to try on some styles which I would never have picked myself which was great for streamlining my idea of ‘my perfect dress’. The quality and selection of different styles at Halfpenny really struck me.
I chose the silk Cheryl dress and Mayfair skirt. The silhouette of the dress with the buttery, flowing silk was such a draw for me. I never thought I would want a backless dress but the style and cut of the silk was spectacular, it was meant to be. The Mayfair skirt over the top just made it that bit more demure for the church and meant you were able to see the dress underneath when I walked, creating a lovely layered feel.
As soon as I tried it on, I felt comfortable, happy and like it elevated my confidence. I think this is the most important aspect of a wedding dress. You still want to look like yourself, but just a happy, comfortable and confident version.”
I couldn’t have put it better myself! That’s exactly what we say to all of our brides: be the very best version of yourself. Marina chose beautiful, colourful blooms by Nordic Twigs and finished off her look with a bespoke Tilly Thomas Lux headpiece.
Huge congratulations to the happy couple! We wish you every happiness in the world for your new adventures together.
Love,
