Beautiful Marie-Claire | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Marie-Claire Chappet - now Beresford Davies Chappet - and her new husband William said “I do” in a classic, yet relaxed chateau wedding in rural France.
Marie-Claire’s search for her dream wedding dress led her to many different places before visiting our boutique.
“I went to SO MANY wedding dress appointments I can’t even begin to tell you,” she said. “The ones that stood out were the ones where the stylists not only seemed to know their stuff but genuinely care about you. I was also drawn to places that did everything in house. Halfpenny offered both: great warm service and a one stop shop.
[My appointment at Halfpenny London was] incredible. The stylists (and Kate herself!) were attentive and friendly and they were so invested. They made me feel really well cared for. Something I didn’t bargain for was that wedding dress shopping can be super emotional and stressful. I really felt Halfpenny were holding my hand throughout.”
When I met Marie-Claire, she gave me an interesting brief: “Marie Antoinette…if she shopped at Cos.” I had the exact dress for her, ready and waiting!
“I chose Foxglove because it fit exactly with my strange brief for my dress. Before I had even come into the shop, I told Kate this mad idea and she didn’t blink. She said “I have just the dress for you.” And she was right. The moment I put it on I knew. It was exactly what I wanted and, more than that, it felt so comfortable. I could imagine myself dancing and running around in it (which is exactly what I did). I didn’t cry, which I thought I might. But that happened later, when I put MY dress on at my final fitting. I bawled like a baby. ‘That’s my wedding dress!’ To which the patient Halfpenny stylist replied: ‘Yes, that’s sort of the idea.’”
Marie-Claire finished her look with pearl studs (a 21st birthday present from her parents), Swarovski drop earrings and a selection of rings, adding a silver Claddagh ring which was a wedding gift from her maid of honour. The final touch was a veil borrowed from two friends who had worn it for their own weddings.
“It was such a nice connection to have. We call ourselves the sisterhood of the travelling veil now, and I am already on the lookout for who to give it to next…”
Huge congratulations to Marie-Claire and William! Wishing you both so much happiness for your new adventures together.
Love,
Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
