Beautiful Sophie | A Halfpenny london Bride
Beautiful couple Sophie and Robert McClelland celebrated their love this summer after pulling their wedding plans together quickly in a post-covid world.
“We wanted to have a classic theme,” Sophie said. “Traditional flowers, black and white photos against old buildings… However, the reality of finding venues last-minute, post covid, meant that it was a real mix of styles! But we grew to love the randomness and I was lucky enough to befriend an amazing singer that I met at PROUD Embankment on a show he did during my hen-do! He was the best, most unexpected, addition to the after party!”
Due to the short timescale, Sophie visited us at our sample sale and was in luck, finding her dream dress there and then.
“It was the first time I had felt happy in a dress, and a fitted one at that! The stylist made me feel so at ease and the experience was flawless. The Dion dress was such a beautiful, thicker satin, that made me feel more secure and “held in”! It was also miraculously in my size/length, in the sample sale and in PERFECT condition. I had seen the Moon skirt on the website and just knew it was for me. It meant I was able to be visually-dramatic with the long train when I wanted, but it was light enough to pull up at a moment’s notice! We then went with the most perfect bespoke, off-the-shoulder sleeves, that balanced out the size of the moon skirt against the dress. The stylist was again amazing at making that happen for me!”
Sophie had recently been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease so finding a dress she’d be comfortable in was extra important. How could she tell it was the one?
“I knew it was the one by the reaction of my sisters when I tried it on, as well as how I felt – it was one of the first times, in a long time, that I had looked in the mirror and felt excited to be seen. I also knew that even if I became a bit swollen, or my weight fluctuated slightly, the stretchy satin meant that was my extra special friend in the run-up to the big day!”
I’m over the moon Sophie found her perfect wedding outfit with us. She looks utterly stunning and I’m so pleased she came to our sample sale that day!
