Stunning Sharon | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful couple Sharon and John planned their relaxed, intimate wedding in only four months and knew, no matter what, they wanted the day to feel very personal to them.
“We just wanted the weekend to be very ‘us’,” Sharon said. “I had approached Straloch Estate and asked if we could get married on site, having stayed at their accommodation the year before and fell in love with the highland location. They thankfully agreed, and we had our ceremony in their stunning walled garden, surrounded by beautiful blooms, with just 13 guests and on one of the hottest days of the year!”
Sharon and John had been engaged for two years but the pandemic brought a halt to their wedding planning. When the couple decided to go for it, it was a quick turnaround, and Sharon knew the short timescale meant that her dress search needed to be a priority.
“I had done a fair amount of research into the kind of dress I was looking for. However, when the time came – we ended up arranging our wedding within 4 months, so the thoughts of preordering a made-to-order gown became quickly out of the question!
I visited Rachel Scott in Edinburgh to try on a Halfpenny sample dress. I had only visited one other bridal boutique before then but had already managed to figure out that sleek, minimal and figure hugging were what I was drawn too. I had picked out the Victor dress to try on and it exceeded my expectations. The sample fit like a glove and needed zero alterations. I’ve never had a dress fit me so well. I found the fabric to be incredibly comfortable with the perfect amount of stretch and hold. I adored the low back and the small fishtail puddle. My friend nicknamed it the ‘Jessica Rabbit’ dress! I knew it was the one because of the fit and feel – it was perfect from the moment I tried it on. I looked and felt like the best version of myself!”
I recently went to Edinburgh to visit Rachel’s incredible boutique so I can image the wonderful experience Sharon. had with Rachel and I’m thrilled she found exactly what she was looking for in our Victor dress. She looked sensational!
Sharon wanted to make the bouquets for her and her bridesmaids and asked her dear friends Ange and Eryn of Fauna Flower Folk to source those delicious garden roses, dahlias, eremurus and other blooms. They were the perfect finishing touch and I love that personal detail.
Congratulations to the happy couple! All of us at Halfpenny London are sending you so much love and luck for your new adventures together.
Love,
Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
