Beautiful Esther | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Esther married her handsome hubby Asher in April this year. Esther is Australian-German and Asher is Chinese-Malaysian. The couple tied the knot in their church’s old fashioned hall. The florals are totally stunning and I’m not surprised given the couple’s inspiration…
“When we were describing our theme to our florist we said Wes Anderson meets Peranakan Chinese and turns out those were the magic words because we ended up with the most fantastic florals!”
Esther knew she wanted a Halfpenny London dress from the outset. She eventually chose our Breeze dress which she styled to perfection with out plain blossom top.
“My fiancé and I had been living in Oxford and my sister was living in London, so right before we moved back to Australia I asked my sister to come dress shopping with me. Halfpenny London was the first and only place I tried on wedding dresses because I knew from seeing the dresses online that they would be the one for me. I had one single appointment at Halfpenny London, two days before I moved back to Australia! My sister and I were so welcomed into the boutique. The experience was exactly what I wanted, fun, welcoming, professional and accommodating."
Esther was open minded about her dress but she knew one thing she didn’t want: a strapless dress! We hear a lot of brides say things they don’t want and my advice is to just try it! Even if you think you’ll hate it, just give it a go as you never know what might happen…
“Funnily, when I first started trying on dresses I said I wanted to try on everything but strapless dresses, but then strapless is what I ended up choosing! I loved the skirt of the breeze dress. It felt beautifully bridal, fun and modern all at once. How can one say no to a dress with pockets! When I tried it on I felt both beautiful and special but also just like my usual self at the same time.”
Esther completed her look with two peal barrettes in her hair and, of course, the most incredible flowers! They were a combination of Australian natives and some tropical features as a nod to Asher’s home of Malaysia and Esther’s childhood home of Singapore.
Thank you so much to Esther and Asher for sharing their beautiful images with us. We wish the newlyweds every happiness in their new adventures together.
Love,
