Gorgeous Lizzie | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Lizzie and her lovely new husband, Stephen, tied the knot in March this year. The couple’s destination wedding was at the forefront of Lizzie’s mind when choosing a dress. She had seen a lace Halfpenny gown she had her eye on but that all changed when she came in to meet me..
“Stephen and I were to be married in South Africa, where he is from, at a wine farm where we had our first mini-break together called Diamant Estate near Paarl. The wedding was going to take place over a number of days. We were also going to have a second, British celebration at my family home in Hertfordshire. So this was going to be a hard-working dress! I actually first heard about Halfpenny London from my then fiancé, Stephen, who had worked with her on an ad campaign in Cape Town, South Africa, a number of years ago. He described her as a “cool, alternative British designer” and I knew then and there it would be the bridal store for me.”
Lizzie was keen to invest in pieces that could be worn again so separates was the natural choice for her. Being a lover of fashion, she wanted to have either several bridal looks, or a dress that could be worn in different ways.
“When I had my appointment with Kate, everything fell into place. I went for a combination of an Andrea corset, the Peter skirt and the Ozzie overlay. I wore the whole lot on our wedding day, naturally, with a cathedral length veil, borrowed from my oldest friend. I adored my dress, which I wore with Charlotte Mills shoes and tulle flowers in my hair made by Lizzie McQuade. Everyone remarked on how special the dress was, and how exceptionally it was made.
I cannot thank Kate and her team enough. She is a genius and I couldn’t have asked for a better dress. I am now about to have my underskirt shortened, so I can wear more often, with the Ozzie eventually made in to a veil as an heirloom. The corset I will wear at every opportunity as it is perfect.”
I adore these gorgeous pictures of Lizzie and Stephen. The light is just magical and their love shines out from every frame. Congratulations to the happy couple! I wish you all the love and luck in your new lives together.
Love,
