Love will endure
I’m going to be honest with you all. This is hard. I’m not talking about business right now. This – the pandemic, the isolation - is hard on a personal level, on a basic human level. The enormity of it all is beyond my comprehension and I keep having to bring myself back to my own circle and think about what can I do, what I can offer you right now.
My heart breaks for those of you who’ve had to postpone your wedding. Yes, of course it’s the right and responsible thing to do to save lives and help our incredible NHS. That’s not in question at all, and I’m sure you’re all behind that. But… Nothing will take away from the fact that you’ve most likely been planning your wedding for months, or even years, so I hereby give you permission to feel sad, or disappointed, or upset, or all of those at once. If it was me, I’d feel the same.
Love will endure. That is guaranteed, so after you’ve got those emotions out, hopefully you can lift your head up and look to the future when all of this is over and you can look forward to celebrating your love without fearing for the health of your friends and family. You all deserve the day of your dreams and, trust me, it’ll be worth the wait. For now, take it day by day and this too shall pass.
For me, I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation by cherishing all the extra time I have with my family, although working from home with Sylvester is a challenge! He doesn’t care that I’m on a zoom call with the Halfpennys when he’s desperate to show me a picture of the flower he’s drawn. His joy at having both myself and my husband at home is so pure and I think I can take a leaf out of his book and try to fully and unashamedly enjoy the small things in life right now.
It does feel very strange not going into the atelier but our regular team conference calls are keeping us uplifted. We’re still working away and will continue to do so until it’s back to normal. We’ve been in contact with every single one of our brides but if you have any updates or changes to your wedding date please do let us know.
I’ve received so many beautiful messages from you during this time, many of which have moved me to tears. Myself and my team love what we do because of you. It’s as simple as that. Working with brides and bringing joy to people’s lives is the reason we turn up to work each morning – whether that’s at our boutique or from home as is the case right now. You ladies inspire me every single day and I’m so proud of the wonderful community we have. We are all in this together and we are here for you right now so feel free to reach out to us. We can try and offer you some words of reassurance.
Love will always win.
Love,
Kate and the Halfpennys xxx
