Lovely Anna | A real Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Anna and her new husband wanted a relaxed wedding day, full of wonderful food and music, surrounded by their loved ones. They wanted the venue to feel colourful and romantic and decided to decorate it with local wildflowers and coloured candlesticks, giving a romantic, yet informal feel.
Anna wasn’t looking forward to her dress shopping experience at all so the pressure was on…!
“I had the absolute dread about wedding dress shopping. I found every shop/boutique so unapproachable that I never made it past the door. I had decided that I would find an evening gown from somewhere fabulous and that I didn’t need a ‘wedding dress’.
My first appointment at Halfpenny was the first time I had tried on any dresses so I was excited but fully expected that none of them would be right… an hour later I could have happily walked away with any of the (many!) pieces that I tried. It was so much fun! The team all know their stuff so well and really helped me understand what worked best for me.
I was very tempted with the Riley corset and Victor skirt, but in the end the Dion dress won for me. I absolutely loved its simplicity and classic style. I loved how easily I could move in it and how unfussy it was. Once I tried it on I couldn’t not have the veil – it felt like a sheer cape and I loved how it covered my arms and shoulders. I was nervous as the dress is so figure-hugging but as soon as I stepped into, it made me feel amazing. I loved how it embraced my curves but also made me feel incredibly supported whilst being unbelievably comfortable. There is wizardry in the fabric! I could have chosen the dress with my eyes closed, it felt so good to wear I knew it was right for me.”
Thank goodness the dread didn’t stop Anna from paying us a visit! On a serious note, wedding dress shopping can be an overwhelming experience but it doesn’t have to be at all! Do your research into the places you’d like to go and get recommendations from friends and family to find boutiques which you think will fit your vibe. It should be magical and I can promise you myself and the Halfpennys are experts in making you feel relaxed and welcome so please don’t worry.
Anna looked sensational in the Dion and I’m so pleased she came to see us! Seeing these gorgeous pictures is the icing on the cake for us. It’s one of my favourite parts of the job to see our brides looking as radiant and happy as Anna does here. Here’s to many, many hears of happiness for the newlyweds!
