Introducing Wonder, the new collection by Halfpenny London
wonder /ˈwʌndə/ verb. to ask yourself questions or express a wish to know about something
The initial inspiration for Wonder came from the realisation that we’ve all gone through such a lot of change, both on a personal level and in the world in general, and so many of us are asking questions of ourselves about our future and how we want to live our lives. I’ve had some seismic changes in my personal life during the development of this collection and, as a result, my sources of inspiration shifted. I am a naturally curious person as a stylist as well as a designer, and I’m constantly searching for that little seed of inspiration, that little bit of magic.
I’m lucky to be surrounded by an incredible team and have worked with them to evolve this collection, playing with fabrics and construction. Textiles are a constant inspiration and we’ve had fun this season with flowing Duchess satin, delicious weighty crepes and featherlight, crunchy taffeta, creating wondrous drama in striking silhouettes. From plunging necklines and oversized trains, to exquisitely cut, figure-hugging gowns with slim detachable sleeves, to modern corsets with meters of liquid-like satin skirts with high leg splits, there’s something for everyone. Halfpenny London has always been committed to inclusivity, so every piece in the collection is available to fit all sizes.
With Wonder, I leaned heavily into the freedom of child-like curiosity and the awe of discovery. I wish the same for my brides when they visit our boutique and find a treasure trove of beautiful garments, ready to help them express themselves and truly be the bride they want to be.
Wonder will be available from the autumn and the full collection can be viewed here.
