Beautiful Abi | A Halfpenny London bride

Newlyweds Abi and Joe Colgan-Bevan tied the knot last summer with a laid back, fun celebration. The couple wanted their wedding to be meaningful to celebrate their decade long relationship, but also relaxed and playful. Having moved their wedding due to COVID, Abi & Joe enjoyed the opportunity to see their nearest and dearest together again and all in one place to let their hair down and enjoy themselves.

Abi and her best friend - a fellow Halfpenny London bride! - came to our London flagship boutique together along with Abi’s mum.

“My friend and I helped each other choose our Halfpenny dresses and supported each other’s dreams to be a Halfpenny bride over many Whatsapp conversations!” Abi said. “My mum was a great help in helping me choose – I couldn’t have done it without her, and it was so lovely to have that experience with her in a shop as gorgeous as Halfpenny, trying on (many) of the beautiful dresses to find my perfect outfit.

I have always loved the off-the-shoulder style, and the material on the Harbour dress is something I’ve never come across before. It’s the most comfortable, breathable, stretchy fabric that you can really move in – something that was a big priority for me because as my wedding was going to be in Italy during summer. It was going to be hot and I was going to dance a lot! It actually ended up being nearly 40 degrees on my wedding day so I’m happy that this fabric was breathable!

When trying on the Harbour dress with the Ozzie skirt I knew it was my dream wedding outfit because I could really visualise how it would look at my Tuscan wedding in Italy. When trying on dresses, I found that I didn’t want anything with sequins or lace. I found I wanted something really simple, made really well and that fitted me perfectly – the Harbour ticked all these boxes. The Ozzie skirt is really understated but has this delicate, light look about it. I loved how the 3d flower detailing with the strands of feathers started in the middle of the skirt so it didn’t look too overwhelming on the bottom half of the dress. It gave it a really natural, elevated look. The layers of tulle gave it a dreamy feel but you could still see the silhouette of the Harbour dress underneath.”

Abi completed her look with a two tier veil and some delicate gold jewellery. She looks incredible and we’re so pleased she found her dream wedding dress in our boutique. Such a dreamy bride!
