Beautiful Angela | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful bride Angela and her new husband Mark certainly know how to throw a party! Their London city wedding was full of memorable customised details and wonderful experiences their guests will never forget.
“As we come from retail and marketing backgrounds and have put on many events for other brands,” Angela said, “we customized and designed every detail and bit of branding ourselves for our big day, from all the signage and the menu inspired by our favorite eats, to the billboard outside the reception venue. We were going for a style that felt true to us: classic, polished, and design-driven but not sterile, overly romantic, too trendy, or taking anything too seriously.”
Angela needed an incredible wedding outfit for the celebration and found her way to our London flagship boutique,
“I am 5 feet tall so I always want to make sure I don’t look drowned out in what I wear. I’m also very particular and was keen on finding a wedding dress that was well made, timeless, modern, not too trendy nor costume-y, and with an unexpected, unique detail…a pretty tall order! As we’re based in Los Angeles and knew I was visiting London only a few times before the wedding, I researched Halfpenny London beforehand and noticed a good number of the dresses on the website fit my style. I also appreciated that the dresses are designed, made, and sold in London. As London is where my partner is from, where we met, and where we were getting married, I thought this was a special connection.
My first appointment was with a Halfpenny London stylist who let me try on a number of dresses in vastly different styles, which I appreciated as I can be very indecisive and didn’t have a firm vision of my wedding look yet. The Max dress was the very first one I tried on and I instantly knew it was “the one.” I felt super relaxed yet elegant, the silhouette didn’t drown my short stature out, and I loved the modern neckline and its sharp angles. The dress makes a simple and strong statement without overpowering the entire look. It was the only dress I felt like I was wearing versus a dress “wearing me”. The stylist never rushed me. It was a special and memorable experience. I didn’t expect to have so much fun trying on wedding dresses.
A few months later I decided on the Margaret Veil. After seeing photos of it on the Halfpenny London blog I knew the crazy beautiful tiered ruffles were something I had to add to my outfit. I went back and forth on a few veil options, some on the simpler side, but figured the wedding was the one occasion to go big since I don’t think I’d be wearing this veil ever again (though I really wish I could find an excuse to!) I loved the contrast of the simple and sleek, casual-cool, and comfy Max Dress with the out-there, dreamy and whimsical Margaret veil. I also like that the Max dress is something I definitely want and will wear again for a future special occasion. I wish I could wear the entire outfit again!”
Angela looked stunning and I love her choice of wedding look. I adore her Manolo Blahnik heels and beautiful tennis bracelet which was gift from Mark on the morning of the wedding. The incredible, joyful flowers were by Jayne and Andi from Halcyon Halcyon.
I’m thrilled to share this wonderful wedding with you today and wish Angela and Mark every happiness in their new adventures together.
Love,
Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
