Stunning Sophie | A Halfpenny London bride
Newlyweds Sophie and Mike Nelson celebrated with a beautiful wedding in Sicily this May. They chose an old fishery as the setting, full of character with a trademark bright red building, starkly contrasting the blue sea behind.
Sophie came to visit our flagship boutique after seeing her dream dress on our Instagram. I’m so pleased she loved it just as much in the flesh!
“Both times I visited Halfpenny I was made to feel confident,” Sophie said. “I was listened to and encouraged to try different things. Due to last minute drop outs thanks to covid, the appointment where I actually chose my dress and tried on the Okotan for the first time, I was on my own. The lady who was assisting me was reassuring, made me feel special and talked through the outfit with me and my options, like my family or friends would have. She didn’t put any pressure on me but also made me feel so excited that I had found “the one.” I didn’t hesitate in my decision to buy despite being on my own because of her. So thank you!
As soon as I saw the Okotan corset on your instagram I knew it was the one. It stood out as being so special with the ruched detailing on the front. Pairing it with the Ellie skirt, gave me that Cinderella moment but without feeling restricted. I wanted to enjoy my day and be able to dance and eat the delicious Italian food! And when I realised the skirt had pockets it was a done deal!
I knew it was the one because I felt so excited when I saw myself in it. The dress is both beautiful and a bit sexy at the same time. I also felt it complimented our venue well, giving me Italian dolce vita vibes.”
Sophie looked completely stunning. The nipped in waist and off-the-shoulder Okotan was the perfect choice and I adore this pairing with the Ellie skirt. She completed her look with a silk edged veil and pearl drop earrings from Missoma, next to some diamond studs (her something borrowed thanks to her Mum!). The final touch was a tiny necklace with Mike’s initials on, which she still wears daily.
