I was lucky enough to experience both the boutique and the sample sale. The Halfpenny staff were fantastic at both. Just because it was a sample sale did not mean that they compromised on their care and quality of service.

Beautiful bride Nadia married her new husband Mohie in an elegant London ceremony in January 2024. Nadia was born in Lahore, Pakistan and grew up in Cheshire while Mohie was born in Algiers, Algeria and grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland and cultural heritage was an important factor when planning the wedding. The couple wanted to ensure that their customs and traditions were represented throughout their special day and their wedding was a beautiful blend of Pakistani, Algerian, English, and Scottish values and customs.

The venue, The Caledonian Club, is a private members’ club in Belgravia for Scots looking for a ‘home away from home’. Tartan and haggis were very much a feature! A string quartet played nostalgic ‘90s Bollywood tunes as guests arrived, which transitioned to a live Darbuka and Tabla player accompanying the DJ for the evening reception, playing 80s funky Egyptian and Arab music – dubbed ‘Habibi Funk’ by the couple.

When it came to the dress, Nadia had an unexpected journey when finding The One.

In all honesty, I was not expecting to find my dress at Halfpenny and booked it as an afterthought,” Nadia said. “It was my 5th appointment (across London & New York!). I was struggling to find the right dress. I needed something that was modest but, importantly, was still ‘me’. I went into the appointment with zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The creativity of adding and removing separate elements was something that we used to our advantage to create a dress combination that ticked all my boxes. It was elegant (almost regal), chic, timeless but also modern.

I found the perfect modest dress that was chic and elegant and I didn’t feel like I was compromising on my personal style just because it was modest.

During the appointment, Nadia created a dreamy look with the help of our Halfpenny London stylist, Megan.

“Megan was fantastic. She listened to my requirements, pulled out lots of options and made some creative suggestions that I would not have originally considered. When she brought out the RaRa shrug and cape, I fell in love. I found the perfect modest dress that was chic and elegant and I didn’t feel like I was compromising on my personal style just because it was modest.

I was still considering my options, when a few weeks later I saw an Instagram story about a sample sale. I went along (again, no expectations of finding what I wanted!) and when I saw 2 out of 3 elements of my dress in the sale the decision was made for me! I was lucky enough to experience both the boutique and the sample sale. The Halfpenny staff were fantastic at both. Just because it was a sample sale did not mean that they compromised on their care and quality of service.”

Nadia accessorised with fuchsia Manolos, complete with a ‘something blue’ buckle and asymmetrical chandelier pearl earrings with pink accents from Completed Works tied together the classic, romantic, and modern elements of the dress.

I’m so happy Nadia found her dream Halfpenny London dress. She looked incredible and we all wish her and Mohie every happiness in their new lives together.

Love,
