Newlyweds Zoe and David tied the knot last summer in a relaxed countryside wedding. The couple really wanted a joyous celebration for their guests to look forward to. The day started with a beautiful church service followed by a reception in Zoe’s parents farm.
“We both knew that we wanted one big party and mother of bride Sharon always wanted a carousel after a trip on the one in Central Park, New York.” Zoe said.
“We wanted a blend of traditional and modern twists throughout our day. Our ceremony was held in our village church – St Catharines of Houghton on the Hill. We filled the church with flowers and everyone arrived with a harpist playing modern love songs. We sang hymns from school and once we were married the church bells rang.”
In a nod to Zoe’s Irish heritage the couple and their guests enjoyed a celebratory pint of Guinness at their village pub after the ceremony. They were then whisked away in a vintage Land Rover Defender - affectionately nicknamed ‘Babs’ - to Zoe’s family farm.
“The small attention to details things were a huge part of the day. My Halfpenny Apple Butterfly dress was a nod to my late maternal grandmother, Butterflies were her thing. I loved everything about my dress and the trips on the train down to Woburn Walk to see the Halfpennys, it will always be one of my most treasured memories.”
The couple included many personal and local touches for their choice of food including a Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Tower from their local butcher, a Ploughman’s lunch, and an ice cream van and macaron tower for desert. Dancing went on to the early hours with live music which included traditional Irish hits and the master of ceremony and the couple’s very good friend, Jack, behind the decks making sure there was something for everyone. An impromptu sing along to Sweet Caroline was a favourite moment of the day for Zoe!
The Apple butterfly was the perfect choice for Zoe and we are so happy she chose to wear Halfpenny London on her big day. She looked utterly incredible and I adore these images by Angie and Matt which capture the joy of the day. Huge congratulations to the happy couple and here’s to countless years of wedded bliss.
Love,
