Newlyweds Beth and Jonny tied the knot in a timeless ceremony last August. With both Beth and Jonny having family ties to Shropshire, the picturesque Walcot Hall made for the perfect location to celebrate their love. The wedding was a joyous three-day affair, with welcome drinks at the on-site pub on the Friday, the wedding itself on the Saturday and a “survivor’s BBQ” on Sunday.
After getting engaged, Beth began the search for her dress and initially found it to be quite daunting. It really doesn’t have to be and the team at our wonderful stockist Morgan Davies bridal were on hand to help.
“Before I found my Halfpenny London dress, I hadn’t really enjoyed the process of wedding dress shopping,” Beth said. “I’ve never had the best body image and I just couldn’t find a dress that made me feel comfortable and confident. I tried a couple of boutiques in London and Hertfordshire, and a few styles at a wedding show. All I knew is that I wanted to wear something simple and classic, that I could easily dance in.”
“I booked an appointment at the Morgan Davies bridal boutique in Hitchin, near my mum’s house, because I had seen that they stocked Halfpenny London and I had a feeling it would be worth holding out for. I loved the inclusivity of the brand and the beautiful, modern creations.
Morgan Davies is a gorgeous boutique, filled with a well-curated selection of amazing stock. I had a brilliant experience at the appointment. Jackie, the stylist, was so patient and knowledgeable - she really listened to my preferences and suggested five dresses, including the Dahlia and the Charlotte style.”
Beth soon fell in love with the Charlotte dress, a beautiful silk crepe gown and one of the Halfpenny London Icons.
“I knew the second I zipped up the corset that the Charlotte was the one! With every dress I’d tried on previously, I felt like I was dressing up in a costume. I finally felt like a bride and just felt like myself - but better. It really was my dream dress. I loved the fluidity of the fabric and felt like I was floating on air walking around in it! I also loved the timelessness of the Charlotte style - it felt modern, but classic.”
Beth completed her look with a gorgeous pair of Loeffler Randall platforms and an engraved bracelet from Lilly and Roo, gifted from Jonny for the wedding day.
The wonderful Alice at Borage & Blossom created a locally-grown explosion of seasonal hydrangeas, dahlias, larkspur and roses, also incorporating a photo of Beth’s late father as a bouquet charm so he could walk with her down the aisle, a beautiful tribute and gorgeous personal touch.
Beth looked sensational on her big day and I’m thrilled we were able to play a part in her special day. Huge congratulations to the happy couple!
Love,
Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
