Gorgeous Deirdre | A Halfpenny London Bride
Beautiful bride Deirdre O’ Sullivan and her new husband Thomas Craig tied the knot in September last year. The couple wanted a really classic, elegant and timeless style for their wedding, choosing a cathedral ceremony and reception in the Kerry countryside, Ireland. Deirdre found her perfect wedding dress via our incredible stockist in Hitchin, Morgan Davies.
“I had tried on a number of dresses before and while I liked many, I wasn’t getting that wow factor,” Deirdre said. “I was starting to get worried I would never get that feeling of it being ‘the one’! I had such a wonderful experience in Morgan Davies’ Hitchin store. They made me feel so special from the moment we entered. They really took time to listen to what I was looking for and support me with selecting some styles. When I found the Cheryl dress and Ellie skirt, the team celebrated with me and my bridesmaid! The celebrations didn’t quite end there. As my family are in Ireland, they very kindly arranged some more appointments for me to show my Mom too which was really lovely.
I knew I always wanted a satin wedding dress with a ballgown shape and a long train. A full skirt was quite different to my usual style of dress for special occasions, where I tend to wear more fitted silhouettes. I was really conflicted the more I tried on. I wanted the ballgown but also loved the sleek styles!”
Luckily, by choosing one of our dresses and our magnificent Ellie skirt Deirdre could have the best of both worlds!
“When I saw the Cheryl dress I absolutely adored it - the neckline, the backless style, sleek fit and the fabric was just beautiful. I selected it to try on but was thinking it wasn’t the ballgown skirt style I had in mind for the ceremony…. Until I saw the Ellie skirt and completely fell in love with the idea of pairing them. I loved that I could have the drama of a full skirt for the cathedral ceremony and then remove it for the dancing after. The moment I looked in the mirror I knew it was the dress for me – I had such a rush of emotion and just felt so lucky to have found it. It was everything I wanted and had been looking for, yet felt like a total surprise.”
We added an extra 20” to the train of Deirdre’s skirt for some extra drama and to make all her bridal dreams come true!
